Selection of contact metal also need to consider its conductivity, hardness, mechanical strength, cost and whether toxic and other factors. Corrosion resistant metal is sometimes plated on the contacts.
Generally, it is plated on the contact surface of the contact to avoid affecting its performance due to oxides. Sometimes the contact surface will also use non-metallic conductive materials, such as conductive plastics. In addition to the contact in the switch, there will also be movable parts to make the contact open or not open, the switch can be divided into lever switch (Toggleswitch), key switch, Rockerswitch (Rockerswitch) according to the different movable parts, and movable parts can also be other types of mechanical connecting rod.
Switch main parameter：
Rated voltage:Refers to the safe voltage allowed by the switch in normal operation. If the voltage at both ends of the switch is greater than this value, it will cause ignition breakdown between the two contacts.
Rated current: refers to the safe current allowed through the switch when it is switched on. When it exceeds this value, the switch contacts will be burned due to excessive current.
Insulation resistance: refers to the resistance value of the conductor and the insulation part of the switch. The insulation resistance value should be more than 100MΩ.
Contact resistance: refers to the resistance value between each pair of contacts when the switch is on. Generally, it should be less than 0.1-0.5Ω. The smaller the value, the better.
pressure resistance: refers to the voltage that the switch can withstand between the conductor and the ground.
Life: refers to the number of times the switch can be operated under normal working conditions. The general requirement is about 5000-35,000 times.
