Product Overview
The SN6170-SL-C is a rope pull safety switch built to sit inside a machine control circuit. It carries one NO and one NC contact. The NC contact holds the circuit closed while the line runs; pull the rope and it opens. Release the rope and both contacts return to their normal position by themselves, so there is no reset button on the housing and no manual step left in the sequence. From an integrator's side that is the point of this rope pull safety switch: after a stop, it returns to its ready-state as soon as the rope is let go.

Applications
Mounting layout determines the rope-run performance of this rope pull switch. The rope passes through the metal pull ring of the rope pull safety switch and spans the workstations along the line, so an operator anywhere on that span can stop it. Automatic assembly lines, packaging machinery, conveyors and warehouse handling equipment are the usual places for this model, particularly where stations sit close together and the run has to be back in cycle quickly. Releasing the rope returns the contacts to their normal position, and nothing has to be done at the unit before the circuit is ready again. Q: Does the line restart on its own when the rope is released?
A: The contacts return to their normal position when the rope is released. What happens next is set by the control circuit behind the switch, not by the rope pull switch itself.

Q: Where are the contacts wired?
A: The NC contact is on terminals 21-22 and the NO contact on 13-14. Both are marked inside the transparent terminal cover of this cable pull switch.

Q: Is the steel pull-rope included with the switch?
A: Rope is not supplied with the unit. Send us your line layout and we can advise on rope specification and arrangement.

Q: Will the switch get damaged if the rope is over-pulled?
A: Excessive pulling force beyond the working range may cause mechanical damage to internal components. Operate within the specified pulling-force range.
